I have recently graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a First in Costume with Textiles BA(hons). I was also awarded 'Most Outstanding Student' on the course by the Northern Society of Costume and Textiles.

 

The course has allowed me to explore and learn a wide range of skills. From design, to creating fabrics using specialised textiles, through to pattern cutting and making. This has developed a good understanding of the various areas within costume. With a very strong love for sewing and attention to detail my true passion is for the constuction of costumes and to work as part of a team making costumes and bringing the designs to life.

 

During my sandwich degree I have undertaken placements at Opera North, Downton Abbey and Exodus: Gods and Kings. A year out in industry enabled me to gain experience in working as part of the team to create costumes for Opera and film, while vastly improving my sewing skills. I also did alterations, dressed crowd and learnt the importance of continuity for television.
